AROMA

PALATE
Thick, sweet, and layered, with caramel, vanilla, molasses, toffee, baked apple, raisins, dried fruit, PX sherry richness, dark chocolate, and soft spice. FINISH
Long, smooth, sweet, and sherry-rich, with lingering fig, dark chocolate, dried fruit, spice, oak, and soft tropical fruit.
TEXTURE
Velvety, polished, rich, and unusually smooth for a 46% blended Scotch. Retail and awards notes repeatedly frame the mouthfeel as smooth, rich, and complex.
Dewar’s Double Double 32 Year Old is a luxury blended Scotch centered on PX sherry richness: fig, raisin, dark chocolate, caramel, molasses, toffee, baked apple, polished oak, sweet spice, and a long smooth finish.
STRAIGHT TALK
This is Dewar’s operating in premium-blend territory, not the everyday blended Scotch lane. Its strengths are age, integration, sherry-cask richness, texture, and polish. Its limitation is value: much of the appeal is tied to luxury blending, rarity, age statement, and brand positioning. It is not a single malt, not cask strength, and not built for aggressive peat, raw distillery character, or experimental weirdness.

Availability Note:
This is a high-end, limited-distribution bottle. It appears through luxury spirits retailers and specialty shops, with availability varying by market. U.S. listings often show the 375 ml format rather than a standard 750 ml bottle.

A DISTILLER’S TALE
Dewar’s was founded in Scotland in 1846 and built its reputation around blended Scotch. The brand says its blends combine up to 30 single malt and grain whiskies, including aged reserves from Dewar’s five malt distilleries: Aberfeldy, Aultmore, Craigellachie, Royal Brackla, and Macduff, plus selected whiskies from across Scotland.
The Double Double range was designed to show Dewar’s at the premium end of blending. The 32 Year Old takes that idea into a darker, richer lane through extended age and Pedro Ximénez sherry-cask finishing.
MY TAKE
Public perception is very strong in the premium blended Scotch category. World Whiskies Awards named it a category winner in 2020, and Whisky Advocate has described the Double Double line as a watershed moment for Dewar’s premium credibility, noting that the 32 Year Old and 21 Year Old each received 94-point ratings from its tasting panel.
The Jazz Chef take: this is the opposite of rough-edged whisky. It is old, smooth, sweet, dark, and polished — fig, chocolate, sherry, caramel, and oak arranged like a very expensive chord.
