Griddle rings work well both on the griddle and in the oven to cook shape items perfectly round, like crumpets and veggie burgers. You can make eggs, including a homemade version of the Golden Arches’ egg muffin, or pancakes or anything where the shape makes for a cool visual design.
I have used steel rings for a long time, and Norpro makes them, but I switched to the non-stick to make life easier. I could have gone the route of silicone, but thus far none of the molds that I’ve tried are tall enough strong enough or get hot enough to force the dough of a crumpet or muffin upward and cooking easily. The non-stick is a happy medium, because it keeps the dough from caking on the rings, and requires less fats to cook.
There are a lot of muffin rings out there, but very few that are quality-built nonstick griddle rings. This product gets my four diamond Choicestuff™ rating for excellence in a crowded field.
