The Singleton of Glen Ord “Autumn Walk” is a 14‑year‑old, natural cask‑strength (54.7% ABV) special‑release Scotch from Diageo’s 2024 Special Releases, matured entirely in refill ex‑Bourbon casks before being finished with charred French and Spanish (Pyrenean) oak ends . On the nose it presents mellow, orchard‑fruit aromas—think ripe peach, apricot, orange‑cream sponge and vanilla—followed by a creamy, mouth‑coating palate with vibrant citrus zest, peppery spice, toasted oak and layers of toffee, ginger and leather . The finish is warming, long, and slightly drying, balancing fruit sweetness with oak‑driven spice for a nuanced Autumnal experience that both embraces the classic Glen Ord character and showcases bold, wood‑influenced complexity.

AROMA

Autumn Walk presents The Singleton of Glen Ord in a richer, more experimental Special Release register: orchard fruit, peach, pineapple, candied orange, grassy notes, vanilla, toffee, ginger, oak spice, and a long warming finish. It is more vivid and cask-driven than the softer core Singleton profile.
STRAIGHT TALK
This is not a standard Singleton shelf bottle. It is a limited Diageo Special Release, with higher strength, experimental cask treatment, and a more distinctive identity than the everyday Singleton range. Its strengths are fruit intensity, cask-strength presence, orchard aromatics, and the unusual European/Pyrenean oak cask-end finish. Its limitation is that the oak treatment is a major part of the profile, so it may read more modern and engineered than traditional. Whisky Advocate lists it at $155 and 54.7% ABV, placing it in the premium limited-release lane rather than the basic age-stated shelf.

A DISTILLER’S TALE
Glen Ord is one of the distilleries behind The Singleton brand family, and this release places it inside Diageo’s annual Special Releases program. The 2024 collection emphasized creative cask strategies across the lineup. For Autumn Walk, Diageo used a combination of ex-bourbon, rejuvenated ex-wine, and refill casks, followed by extended finishing in experimental casks with European and Pyrenean oak cask ends. That cask approach explains the bottle’s orchard fruit, sweet spice, grassy notes, and pronounced oak character.
MY TAKE
Public perception is positive but still developing because this is a recent limited release. The Jazz Chef take: this is Singleton with more color and volume than usual, orchard fruit up front, oak spice underneath, and enough cask-strength structure to keep the autumn sweetness from going soft.
