TASTING NOTES
Taste is more than flavor. It is the full conversation between glass, nose, mouth, and memory. Here, we break each spirit into four parts:
AROMA
Fresh fruit, apple, pear, vanilla, sandalwood, soft leather, light honey, and gentle oak.
PALATE
Citrus, raisins, vanilla, honey, maple sweetness, orchard fruit, mild spice, and a light nutty note.
FINISH
Short, creamy, smooth, and slightly drying, with lingering blackcurrant, vanilla, fruit, and soft wood.
TEXTURE
Light-to-medium bodied, soft, creamy, and easygoing, with a polished Speyside smoothness.
Singleton of Glendullan 12 delivers a gentle Speyside profile built around apple, pear, citrus, raisins, vanilla, honey, maple sweetness, soft oak, and light spice. It is smooth, fruity, and approachable, with very little smoke or aggression.

STRAIGHT TALK
Singleton of Glendullan 12 is a beginner-friendly single malt in the best sense. It gives you real Speyside fruit, vanilla, honey, and oak without making the drinker fight through peat, heat, or tannin. The limitation is depth. It is soft, light, and polished, but not especially forceful. Compared with Mortlach, it is much gentler. Compared with richer sherried malts, it can feel simple. That simplicity is also its selling point.
THE MIX
For culinary-pairing context, Singleton of Glendullan 12 works with apple, pear, citrus peel, raisin, honey, vanilla, maple, almond, walnut, cinnamon, black tea, shortbread, mild cheeses, roasted poultry, and light caramel desserts.
The Jazz Chef angle: this is Speyside in a soft sweater, orchard fruit, vanilla, honey, and cream moving gently, with no beast hiding in the room.
A DISTILLER’S TALE
Glendullan Distillery was founded in 1897 in Dufftown, one of Speyside’s major whisky towns. Today, it is part of Diageo’s Singleton range, which presents approachable single malts from selected distilleries. The 12 Year expression is made to show Glendullan’s soft, fruity, easy-drinking side, with American and European oak casks commonly noted in product descriptions. It is a deliberate contrast to heavier Dufftown neighbors such as Mortlach.
MY TAKE
Singleton of Glendullan 12 is soft, clean, and easy to like. Apple, pear, citrus, vanilla, honey, raisin, and light oak give it a friendly Speyside shape. It is not deep or dramatic, but it is well-behaved and useful. I would call it a good gateway single malt, not a destination bottle.
