Health, Allergen, & Foodborne Illness Policy

HEALTH, ALLERGEN & FOODBORNE ILLNESS POLICY

Frequently at The Jazz Chef website, and any affiliated social media pages, books, or other publications, social media platforms, videos, apps, programs, or other media operated by TheRossGroupFT LLC, our parent company (“the company”), we will provide recipes, tips, techniques, and other instructions in the acquisition, storage, handling, processing, plating and serving of foodstuffs, spices, and beverages.

General Health

Our recipes are designed to reduce exposure to additives, chemicals, and other products used to substitute ingredients or extend the shelf-life of foodstuffs and beverages in transit and storage. We will provide, usually with links to documentation, information on nutrition, food processing, and safety known to us. All of our content is provided for your information and enlightenment, but should not be the only source of information that you use to act upon in your acquisition, processing, or service of foods and beverages.  Use of the contents of any of the company’s sites indicates that you understand, agree and accept the Website Terms and Conditions of Use, and hold the company harmless for any use of information provided to you at any The Jazz Chef-branded site, app, book, video, or other informational or social media platform.

FOODBORNE ILLNESS

All of our recipes and articles about foods, food preparation, and storage, are verified by our chefs and/or staff for food safety. We often refer to recommendations of the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) guidelines for food safety, which we highly encourage every home chef to read and understand fully. As part of our mission of instruction is to make you aware of temperature and time, and how they function in the preparation of foods and beverages, we frequently make reference to the FDA’s temperature standards on the chart on this page.  We advise you to read it and understand it. This serves as a public notice that you should be educated to all aspects of food safety before preparing any food or beverage for anyone, and that you should amend, alter or correct any recipe in your own food and beverage production which you feel may be at variance with your knowledge of the generally regarded as safe (GRAS) list of foods, or the food times and temperature charts, or other information provided by the FDA.  You understand, agree and accept the Website Terms and Conditions of Use, and hold the company harmless for any use of information provided to you at any The Jazz Chef-branded site, app, book, video, or other informational or social media platform.

ALLERGENS

Allergens, substances, gasses, etc. that may invoke an allergic reaction in humans, are commonplace. We will notify you, at our discretion, of particular foods, spices, etc. that may not appear to have allergic consequences.  Items where we suspect a nut allergy not commonly known to sufferers may be tagged with a warning symbol and/or a written warning:

While we make every effort to insure food safety and the best standards and practices, we cannot and will not identify every potential allergen as almost all foods and liquids have the potential to have an adverse reaction for one or more people.

When provided by us, such warnings are a courtesy to inform you about a potential issue of which you may not be aware.

Common sense, and an understanding of your own allergic reactivity, that of your family, and anyone whom you serve at home, or in a social setting, or at a social event, or commercially, is advised.

Consult the FDA’s resources on allergens if you have any questions or concerns, and do not use any recipe, tip, or ingredient herein without first verifying that they are safe for you and those to whom you serve food and/or beverages in any setting.

CHOKING HAZARD

Many, many items with which we cook present a choking hazard. At times, we may remind you of that risk with a warning or an icon like this:

We will post this at times where we think you might be best informed about an ingredient needing your attention. We will not post this warning on every potential agreement, and the absence of such a warning should not substitute for common sense, e.g. things like small chicken bones can present a risk of choking, and we urge anyone using this or any other culinary website, book, audio or video program to read up on choking hazards.
